Payslips, decoded

Your payslip is slop?
We make sense of it.

Upload a payslip from any country in Europe, the Americas, Australia or New Zealand. Payslop explains every line in your language, checks the maths against that country's current legal rates, looked up from published sources, and tells you exactly what to ask HR.

How it works

From cryptic codes to a clear answer in about a minute.

1

Upload

Drop a PDF or a photo from your phone. The file is processed in memory and discarded the moment your result is ready. No account, no e-mail.

2

Decode

Payslop reads every line and explains it in your language, whatever language the slip is in. It looks up the current statutory rates of that country from official sources, rebuilds the path from gross to net, and verifies each rate.

3

Act

A green, amber or red verdict, differences ranked by severity, OK or Check on every line, ready-to-send questions for payroll and the sources used, all free. Plus then adds the published rules that may apply with their conditions, your year in numbers, where your salary stands, and answers to your questions about the slip.

What we check

Most people never question their payslip. Payroll makes mistakes anyway.

Wrong tax class, a missing allowance, overtime without the premium, two meal vouchers short. Small lines, real money, month after month.

Gross to net arithmetic Pension, health and other contribution rates Tax class, tax code and withholding method Minimum wage and collective minimums Overtime, night and Sunday premiums Indexation and annual scale changes Tax credits applied on the slip Contribution ceilings and floors Meal vouchers vs. days worked Company car and other benefits in kind Leave and holiday pay balances Cross-border and telework rules

Current rules, looked up for your country

Before decoding, Payslop researches the statutory rates of the payslip's country and year on official websites and shows you the sources it used. Rules change with indexation and reforms; you see the date of the check.

A payslip in a language you do not speak

German Gehaltsabrechnung, Spanish nómina, Polish lista płac, Brazilian holerite: every printed label is kept as is and its meaning explained in the language you choose.

Privacy

A payslip is the most sensitive document you own. We built for that.

Never stored

Your file lives in memory for the seconds it takes to decode, then it is gone. No upload folder, no database row, no backup.

Identifiers masked

The AI is instructed never to repeat your name, ID number or IBAN, and the server masks ID numbers and bank details that slip through before the result reaches your browser.

EU-hosted, no tracking

Servers in the EU, no analytics cookies, no account. Decoding uses Anthropic's API under terms that exclude training on your data. Full privacy notice.

FAQ

Questions people ask before uploading.

Is this tax or legal advice?

No. Payslop explains what is on your payslip and compares it with published rules and rates. It helps you ask the right questions. For decisions about your taxes or a dispute with your employer, talk to a tax adviser, your union or the labour inspectorate of your country.

Which payslips can it read?

Payslips from every country in Europe, North and South America, Australia and New Zealand, in any language. Before decoding, Payslop looks up the current statutory rules of that country and year from official sources and shows you which ones it used. Explanations come in more than 25 languages, including English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch and Polish.

What file formats work?

PDF (the export from your HR portal is best), or a photo in JPG, PNG, WEBP or HEIC straight from an iPhone or Android. One payslip per upload, up to 10 MB and 8 pages.

Where does my payslip go?

From your browser to our EU server over HTTPS. For PDFs, your name, ID numbers, bank details and street address are blacked out there before anything goes to the AI (Anthropic's API); photos can be redacted on your device with “Hide personal details”. After the analysis the file is dropped. We keep anonymous counters only (country, duration, tokens used). Read the privacy notice for the details. Full privacy notice.

What if the AI gets something wrong?

It can. Rates change, scans can be blurry, and payroll has edge cases. Every result shows a confidence level, the sources it checked against and exactly which checks were performed, so you can verify. Treat red flags as questions to ask, not verdicts.

Why is it called Payslop?

Because that is what most payslips look like: a slop of codes, abbreviations and mystery deductions. Also because someone typed it into Google by mistake. The whole story.

What exactly is in a Plus report?

Four things built from your decoded payslip: the published tax rules that may apply, with their conditions and official sources; your year in numbers, as plain arithmetic; a salary benchmark for your role, sector and experience, researched for your country; and answers to your questions about the slip. It is general information to help you understand your situation and ask the right people. In countries where personal tax advice is reserved to licensed professionals, the rules are shown the same way to everyone and you decide which apply.

Can I get a refund?

Plus reports are digital content delivered immediately: before paying, you ask for immediate delivery, which ends the 14-day withdrawal right. If a report fails to generate for technical reasons, your credit is not used and you can try again. If a report is faulty, write to us: your statutory rights apply.

Why not just ask ChatGPT?

For a quick explanation of the lines, a general AI assistant works. For checking whether your pay is right, it is not enough. We gave the same AI model Payslop uses our test payslips with known mistakes, once on its own and once through Payslop. On its own it explained the lines well, but it missed a contribution charged without its legal allowance, called the 2026 pension rate wrong because it remembered last year's, and claimed a cross-border worker's salary should be taxed in the wrong country. Payslop looks up the current rules for your country and year before checking, recomputes every line, ranks what it finds, and removes your name and ID numbers before the AI sees the payslip.
